Mothers Day Weekend Sculpting Class

May 9 | 7 - 9PM

Join us on Mothers Day weekend to learn a basic technique for hand sculpting. Many think that “sculpting just isn’t for them,” but we are excited to introduce techniques that can help hand sculpting be an easier feat to accomplish! Our main project for the evening will be to model an on-the-go coffee tumbler. No prior experience necessary.

 

Friday Night Handbuilding: Charcuterie Boards

May 16 | 7-9PM

Come make your own ceramic Charcuterie Boards with us! This workshop will teach differing hand building techniques (no wheel this time). No prior experience necessary. This is a relaxed time to explore hand building and create functional items you can use.

 

Dinnerware Sets Wheel Throwing

Mondays 7:30PM in May (except Memorial Day)

This course will allow the student to expound upon their basic skills and will focus on creating a matching tableware set for 2. Each set will include a Dinner Plate, Salad Plate, Everyday Bowl and Coffee Mug. We ask that each student please take time prior to week 1 of class and find inspiration for the overall look of their set. The goal for these sets is to have the same form and function carried throughout all the pieces.

Beginner I Wheel Throwing

Come and learn the basics of wheel throwing in a relaxed small group setting. These lessons will focus on wheel control, hand positioning, centering clay, glaze application and the use of basic tools. By the end of this 4- week course, students will have created 4 functional pieces to take home. All materials will be provided. Shoes and clothes will get messy.

Beginner II Wheel Throwing

For students who have completed the Beginner Wheel Throwing Course.

This course will allow the student to expound upon their basic throwing skills and will focus on centering larger amounts of clay, handling mugs, trimming, and glazing techniques. All materials will be provided. Shoes and clothes will get messy.

This workshop will teach differing hand building techniques (no wheel this time). No prior experience necessary. This is a relaxed time to explore hand building and create functional items you can use. And as always, you can count on good tunes and good vibes.

 

1x Wheel Throwing Workshop

June 27th | 7-8:30PM

Have you thought about taking pottery lessons before? Have you ever wished there was a 1x class that could give you a taste of what it’s like before you commit to one of our 4-week classes? This 1x wheel throwing workshop is for people who have no experience but want a general introduction of what it’s like to throw pottery.

 

SUMMER SKILL BUILD SERIES: Big Pots

June 2 & 9th | 5:30-8:30PM

Want to stretch your ability to throw super tall pots? Or ever seen a moon jar and wondered if you could ever achieve such greatness? Join local artist and ceramics instructor William Mantor to learn to throw BIG!

 

SUMMER SKILL BUILD SERIES: Double Walled Vases

June 16 & 23rd | 5:30-8:30PM

Who doesn’t love a little ceramic magic? In this workshop, you’ll learn how to create a Double Walled Porcelain Vase—two vessels joined together to form one beautifully intricate piece. This is a great class to stretch your skills, work with porcelain, and experiment with creative form and texture.

 

SUMMER SKILL BUILD SERIES: Sculpture & Sgraffito

July 9 & 16th | 5:30-8:30PM

Join local artist and ceramics instructor Emily Nickel for an imaginative skill-building journey in clay. In this two-day course, we will be creating an animal sculpture out of clay, then surfacing it using the sgraffito decoration technique.

 

SUMMER SKILL BUILD SERIES: Back to Basics

July 23 & 30th | 5:30-8:30PM

You've put in the time, you know your way around the wheel-but some forms still feel just a bit out of reach. Join local artist and ceramics instructor Paige Chance as you circle back to the essentials with fresh eyes and steady hands.

 

Kids Summer Camp

June 9-12 | 2-4:30PM (SOLD OUT)

August 4-7 | 2PM - 4:30PM (5 SPOTS LEFT!)

In this 4-day class, kids (recommended ages 7-13) will receive an introduction to wheel throwing techniques, ceramic hand-building and glazing. Preacher Pottery will work with each student to make 2-3 pieces on the wheel and 2-3 pieces by handbuilding. No prior experience necessary. $299

 

Handbuilding I

Come and learn the most ancient form of pottery in a relaxed small group setting. These lessons will focus on pinch, coil, slab and glaze application with the use of basic tools. Handbuilding provides a unique opportunity to gain control of your ceramic pieces by learning how to apply details and give your clay an organic aesthetic!

Open Studio provides unguided studio time for those that understand the pottery basics (hand building or wheel throwing) but just need the equipment and space to enjoy ceramics.
